During the negotiations for the treaty signed to-day between His Excellency the President of the National Government of the Republic of China and His Majesty the King of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions Beyond the Seas, Emperor of India, for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Tada, & number of questions have been discussed upon which agreement has been reached. The understandings reached with regard to these points are recorded in the Annex &

With reference to Article 2 and Article 8 (ii) of the treaty, it is understood that

(a) His Majesty the King relinquishes all existing entrant treaty rights relating to the system of treaty ports in China.

As regards the question of the treatment of everseas MerchaDES shipping and pending the conclusion of the comprehensive treaty referred to in Article 8 of the treaty signed this day, it is Then agreed that the merchant vessels of one High Contracting Party
